Binance and Changpeng Zhao Seek Dismissal of SEC Lawsuit, Citing Regulatory Overreach

Binance Holdings and its CEO, Changpeng Zhao, requested the dismissal of a lawsuit brought against them by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), arguing the regulator had overstepped its authority. In a 60-page motion filed on Sept. 21, Zhao and his exchange called the SEC’s lawsuit a retroactive attempt to use its regulatory power against them after failing to put in place the necessary guidelines. Near Foundation CEO Marieke Flement resigns

The Near Foundation treasury grew to $350 million under Flament's tenure. Marieke Flament, CEO of Near Foundation, the developer of the namesake community layer-one protocol, has resigned. According to the September 21 announcement, Chris Donovan, Near Foundation's general counsel, will replace Flament as the new CEO following the resignation. Flament gave no specific reason for her departure. Speaking on her tenure, Flament said:  "Two years ago, I had never heard of NEAR. Upon doing a bit of research and after several conversations it became clear that NEAR had a tremendous potential – fantastic tech, a diverse and vibrant community and a world of open possibilities, and so I joined." FTT price jumps 8% as Binance announces FTT/USDT trading pair

The move comes ten months after Binance removed FTX’s token from its platform, except for the FTT/BUSD trading pair. Cryptocurrency exchange Binance will re-open FTX’s token FTT for trades on Sept. 22, 2023 (08:00 UTC). According to a press release on Sept. 21, the token will be available for trading in the FTT/USDT pair. Binance didn’t explain the reason behind the move but noted that it would also remove the FTT/BUSD trading pair. In addition to FTT, the exchange will list the following pairs: ARK/USDT, CREAM/USDT, GFT/USDT, IQ/USDT and USDT/VAI for spot trading . A recently resurfaced video shows Hal Finney discussing the possibility of zero-knowledge proofs at an annual cryptology conference in California some 25 years ago.
